    PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS
    Ilianexsi Sojourner
    The Basement Club
    Sanctum Sanctorum

On March 14th I invited people to hop on top of the new 1890 New England Upright piano and vamp it up for the camera. (Thread here.) I had been receiving a lot of pictures from people showing me how they were enjoying the piano in their own spaces, and thought it might be fun to offer a piano for the most inspiring pic posted to the Gallery in the forums.

Turned out to be a difficult task, as there were so many wonderful and downright creative pictures shared in the thread. I ended up giving everyone who posted a pic a piano.

Thanks to the following people for making the contest so much fun:

  • Kenzi Hemingway
  • Talon Lardner
  • Vindi Vindaloo
  • Yuriko Muromachi
  • Soleil Mirabeau
  • Callie Cline
  • Faminu Sojourner

In an effort to keep the disruption to a minimum with group messages, I thought I would create a space where you can come at your convenience to find out what's new, and to inject a little creativity of your own.

In the coming days I'll also be working to cultivate a space where inworld music and performing artists can connect, share tips and innovate. I'll be offering tools and tips, and inviting you to make the space your own as a connecting point for fellow music lovers.

Get in on "The Big Hug"

Three years ago I lost my mum to breast cancer. She was very young, and in the end suffered the indignity of being restricted to a bed that was so small she could not cuddle with her husband of 45 years. While I cannot change what happened, there is something I can do to ease the passage for other families that must say goodbye to a loved one in palliative care.

This month I am launching "The Big Hug" project. You'll find a handful of new items and inworld events designed to raise money to purchase a "couple-friendly bed" for the first palliative care unit, and hopefully many more to follow in the future. Here's a sneak peek at some of the things happening inworld now in support of this project ...

Limited Edition Pink Breast Cancer Piano

In memory of my mum, and in honour of all the other families who have lived with breast cancer, I've crafted this special pink piano. I've loaded it with songs that I've composed myself, including the score "Perfect Thing", which I wrote for my mum.

The piano has a very fine, ribbon border and gentle gold trim around it, with a pink ribbon in the lid design, and a small pink ribbon with a diamond in the middle on the front.

    Limited Edition Pink Snow Globe

This is an exact replica of the Pink Breast Cancer Piano, miniaturized, and displayed in a delicate, musical snow globe that plays the song "Perfect Thing". Tiny gilt flakes spin about. Each globe comes with a tiny pink ribbon on the apron, with a diamond in the middle. They also come with a wearable ribbon. Only 1,000 globes will be produced and sold, with each being hand-numbered and signed. All proceeds will go to "The Big Hug" project.

Limited Edition "Serendipity Grace" Gown by Callie Cline with a Gilt Serendipity Piano Snow Globe

Only 100 of these gowns will be sold, and then they are all gone. Each gift box will contain a musical snow globe that I've crafted with a minaturized replica of my Serendipity grand pianos. Each globe is hand-numbered and signed on the bottom, and labelled in it's title, ensuring it's uniqueness. These gilt globes will not be available anywhere else. Money from the sale of these items will be donated to "The Big Hug" project.

To reserve your gown and globe, IM Callie Cline inworld.

More Big Hug Projects & Special Events

Watch here for an announcement about the upcoming "Big Hug Weekend", including an invitation to participate in a fashion show, attend a concert, and add your own music to a benefit CD with the proceeds going to the "Big Hug" project.

Thanks to the talented Baron Grayson for the creation of the new soundboard that you see in all of the new pianos.

If you have a piano with one of the older soundboards, you can trade it in for one with a new soundboard. Watch the calendar for the next trade-up event, or IM me inworld.

    MARK YOUR CALENDAR

Have an older piano, or some sheet music, and want to trade it in for an upgraded version? In the last few months I've made some changes, including a new, more realistic playing animation in the benches, and the addition of Baron Grayson's exquisite handmade soundboard. I also upgraded the sheet music at the beginning of May to include a touch on/off function so you no longer have to take the sheet music back into your inventory to get it to stop playing.

Think you'd like to trade-up? Visit the anchor store in Plush Beta to see if the piano you have now looks different from it's partner on display there. Here's when you can meet me there to swap:

    TinType Portrait
    by Arienrhod Remblai

    FEATURED CUSTOMER

I love it when customers send me a picture of how they've included one of my pianos in their personal space. From gorgeous castles to honky tonk clubs, there's an incredibly diverse and creative set of haunts where the pianos find homes.

The picture I've shared above one of the pictures that I've received, and it's reduced size here does not do it justice at all. Arienrhod Remblai does lovely, tintype portraits. This intrigued me, because I collect them in first life, and the way that Arienrhod brings them to life in SL is full of the same rich storytelling qualities as the fragile beauties I own.

She's recently set up a studio where she will be doing portraits for those of us who are camera-challenged, or just plain want a truly gorgeous interprettation of our mugs. Arienrhod has included the new 1903 Irish Rose Upright in her studio, and it seems to fit right into the romantic set that she's conjured up.

Have a pic of your own that you'd like to share? Send it to me next time you're inworld, and it might be the next one featured here.

    GALLERY ARTISTS

Perhaps you've noticed the artwork hanging on the walls throughout the studio? I'll be rotating the art on a regular basis to give more SL artists exposure. Next time you're in the studio, take a peek at the current exhibits by Charlotte Christensen and Nebulosus Severine. Neb has recently opened up a stunning art gallery, and was featured in the Metaverse Messenger. You'll find a link to her gorgeous ice digs in her profile pics.

I've shared a piece from each of these talented ladies above and below. The pieces on display on the walls at Serendipity Studios are for sale.
